Your first Doorman

A family phone. Ready for your home.

The hardware kit has pre-installed software. Add your household’s connections and caller rules, and give your phone a front desk.

$190 USD · provisional bundle

Prelaunch · not taking orders

Brain, Ethernet cable, power cable, one WP826 handset, and shipping. Final computer model, price, setup instructions, warranty and hardware return terms will be confirmed before orders open.

Separate phone service: about $3.84/month in our 300-minute US calling example, before taxes and other fees. No paid Doorman subscription required for local call filtering.

Your home supplies: working internet, handset Wi-Fi, an Ethernet connection for the Brain, and power. Regular outside calls also need a separately configured phone provider.

Early-access signup is currently limited to @bullmoose.cc addresses. An account does not reserve hardware or take payment. Applicable taxes, extra handsets, internet, power and optional extras are separate.

From the box to the first happy call.

Unpack the kit.

The Brain runs Doorman at home. The WP826 is the cordless Wi-Fi handset you pick up; Ethernet and power cables are included. More rooms need additional compatible handsets, priced separately.

Connect your home.

Plan a powered place for the Brain near Ethernet, reliable Wi-Fi where the handset will be used, and a working internet connection for outside calls. The exact kit setup steps will be published before ordering.

Connect your number.

For calls to ordinary numbers, choose and configure a compatible SIP phone provider. Confirm number rental, porting, incoming and outgoing rates, and emergency-address requirements. Phone service is not included in the kit.

Set your front-desk rules.

Choose familiar callers, family extensions and what happens when an unfamiliar caller does not enter an extension. Then check incoming, outgoing and Room2Room calls on your own setup.

Power, internet, and emergency calls.

This is a phone running on your home equipment and network. Outside calls stop if the Brain, router, internet connection or provider cannot carry them. Room2Room calls still need powered handsets, the Brain and a working local network.

Emergency calling is a provider service, not something a Doorman account or cloud backup supplies. Confirm support for your location, enable it with the provider, register the correct address and follow the provider’s test procedure before relying on it. Keep another way to reach help during an outage. Cloud backups do not supply phone service or battery backup.

Prefer the DIY route?

Doorman is open source and runs almost anywhere. Check the project’s actual computer, operating-system and handset requirements before buying parts. Existing compatible equipment can reduce your upfront cost; it still needs installation and configuration.
